Women in Bootcamps: The Ultimate Guide

It's a fact: women are underrepresented in technology. We've created a woman's guide to the bootcamp space. Here's an outline of the lay of the land when it comes to attending a bootcamp, and a list of some bootcamps that are stepping up to the plate and offering scholarships for women and underrepresented groups in tech.

Bootcamps With Diversity Scholarships


Alchemy Code Lab offers a Diversity In Tech Scholarship. Visit their website for more information.


Corporate sponsors make it possible for Bottega to offer scholarships ranging from $1,000 off tuition all the way up to occasional full-tuition for Veterans, Women, or distinguished persons in financial need.


Bloc's Close The Gap scholarship is a $1 million fund for aspiring women designers and developers. Applicants can earn up to 40% off tuition.

Bloc's Diversity Scholarship awards two applicants from under-represented groups $500 towards tuition in partnership with New Relic.


As part of their Diversity Scholarship Fund, Code Fellows scholarships are need-based and cover up to 70 percent of tuition.


For each Full-Stack program, Codeup offers one women $5,000, and two women $2,500 as part of the "Women In Tech" scholarship.


Coding Dojo's Women in Tech scholarship awards women up to $2,000 for the Onsite Bootcamp and the $500 for the Online Bootcamp.


DaVinci Coders' parent company, DaVinci Institute, offers a limited amount of need-based scholarships per course. Contact them for more information.


Digital Crafts' Builder Scholarship assists women, minorities, veterans, and students with especially inspiring stories.

Flatiron School’s Women Take Tech initiative partners with various companies to award scholarships to women.

For the Online program, each month Flatiron School awards 25 women 50% scholarships, which cuts tuition down to $750/month for the duration of the program.

For the in-person NYC program, Flatiron automatically awards a $1,000 scholarship to every woman enrolled.


All women accepted to Fullstack Academy are eligible for the need-based, $1,000 Ada Lovelace Scholarship.

Fullstack Academy has partnered with Women Who Code to provide one full-tuition and two half-tuition scholarships for Fullstack Academy’s Remote Immersive Program.


The Galvanize Foundation, a separate 501(c)(3) organization, awards scholarships to admitted students in their full-time Web Development and Data Science programs across all Galvanize campuses.


Grand Circus Academy offers a Diversity Scholarship of $1,500 ($1,000 for the part-time bootcamp ) towards underrepresented groups in tech.


1. The Hack Reactor Scholarship: 50% of all scholarships will be given to underrepresented groups in software engineering.

2. Facebook Scholarship: 5 full-tuition scholarships towards the Telegraph Track (an extension of the Hack Reactor immersive program that focuses on building a strong community to support the careers of underrepresented software engineers)


Launch Academy offers rolling $500 scholarships in their Boston program for women and underrepresented minorities in tech.


Women are eligible to receive a $3,000 scholarship toward the Metis Data Science Bootcamp tuition.


Rithm School offers partial scholarships for their courses to support diversity and strong merit. Contact their team for more details.

The Software Guild's Women in Tech award grants a $2,000 discount on Software Guild tuition to qualifying women.


Tech Academy is currently offering a $4,020 scholarship to students who commit to completing the program in 20 weeks.


All self-identifying women are eligible for an automatic $100 off tuition per month for Thinkful's Flexible Web Development Bootcamp & Flexible Data Science Bootcamp. They’re also eligible for $240 per month off the Full Time Web Development Bootcamp.


Turing offers two $4,000 diversity scholarships in each cohort.


An automatic $2,000 grant is applied towards your We Can Code It tuition if you are an underrepresented group in tech, including women.


The Future Leaders of Tech Scholarship covers 100% of tuition towards Wyncode's Web Development bootcamp, and also receive a 3-month paid internship to a partnering company.


The need for tech and STEM skills will be important to secure the jobs of the future. Because of this, it's imperative that tech companies recognize the current gender imbalance, which will prevent the sidelining of women in the field.
