According to a study done by Indeed, the overwhelming majority (99.8%) of employers who have hired a bootcamp graduate say they would do so again. Towards the end of your bootcamp, you'll start to work on your resume and LinkedIn profile. You've heard the basic tips - check for typos, add references, plug in relevant keywords. But what do hiring companies actively look for in bootcamp graduate resumes? With the increase of recent bootcamp graduates – 20,316 in 2018 up from 16,867 in 2017, according to Course Report – you'll want to make sure you make an impression on potential employers.

A VESTED INTEREST IN THEIR COMPANY

As a coding bootcamp graduate, if you apply to every job under the sun with a generic portfolio and cover letter, chances are you're spreading yourself too thin. Take the time to write a bit about what drew you to the company, and what projects in your GitHub profile directly relate to their industry or mission.

In terms of time, fresh bootcamp graduates do not have as much experience as tenured software developers and computer science majors. Go into your interviews with that mindset - and show a willingness to learn and absorb information. Don't forget to ask questions!

Networking is key - so employers look for hires who are actively involved in continued education and networking. Keeping up with whats-what is important, and dedication to an outside organization shows your ambition and dedication to continuous improvement.

This might go without saying, but it is extra important in this field. Technology is constantly changing - so developers and creatives must always be ready to switch gears and adopt new programs.

ROBUST UNDERSTANDING OF TOPICS

Employers know what languages developers use within their company - so when they move forward to recruit new talent, they know what languages to look for. For example, If they need front-end developers, they'll look for graduates with experience in JavaScript.
