Why Cyber Security Bootcamps Are the Next Big Thing

Cyber Security is one of the newest skills to be introduced to the educational space. Our online presence is greater than ever, and more attacks and information leaks happen daily. In response to the increase in these threats, Cyber Security bootcamps are popping up to equip students with the training needed to defend the world wide web. Experts predict there will be a global shortage of two million cyber security professionals by 2019, according to Forbes.

WHAT IS CYBER SECURITY?

Every time there's a data breach or a cyber attack, there's a team of delegated people whose job it is to stop the attack, find out who did it, and take steps to ensure it doesn't happen in the future.

Despite its fancy-sounding name, every company, large or small, that does business on the web is subject to cyber attacks, and they need to be prepared - either by hiring an in-house cyber security professional or outsourcing to an agency.

Cyber security is a profound example of a job created by the digital age. 50 years ago, there was no demand for this particular set of skills, but now that everything's been shifted online, the need for the skills has emerged.

WHY SHOULD I LEARN CYBERSECURITY?

Our commercial and governmental institutions are hacked all day, every day. Similar to technology, cyber security now touches every American, every institution, and every governmental agency. Digital warfare is no longer a thing of the movies or science fiction.

There's a huge demand for cyber security trainees, and that number is expected to rise even higher by 2019. By 2021, there is predicted to be 3.5 million cybersecurity jobs. (source)

According to CyberSeek, there are more than 40,000 information security analyst jobs that go unfilled each year.
