Women in Bootcamps: The 2017 Guide

It's a fact: women are underrepresented in technology. We've created a women's guide to the bootcamp space. Here's an outline of a women's lay of the land when it comes to attending a bootcamp.


The need for tech and STEM skills will be important to secure the jobs of the future. Because of this, it's imperative that tech companies recognize the current gender imbalance, which will prevent the sidelining of women in the field.

Bootcamps With Diversity Scholarships


Named the New Relic Diversity Scholarship, each week, two applicants from under-represented groups are selected to receive a $500 partial scholarship toward any Bloc program.


As part of their Diversity Scholarship Fund, Code Fellows scholarships are need-based and cover up to 70 percent of tuition.


A number of scholarships are available from Codesmith for people from underrepresented backgrounds.


For each Full-Stack program, Codeup offers two women $5,000 scholarships.


Dev Bootcamp sometimes offers special scholarships through third-party organizations. In addition, Dev Bootcamp always offers a $1,500 scholarship to women.


Digital Crafts offers an application-based Diversity Scholarship between $500-$2,000.


Flatiron School’s Women Take Tech initiative partners with various companies to award scholarships to women.

Fullstack Academy

Fullstack Academy has partnered with Women Who Code to provide one full-tuition and two half-tuition scholarships for Fullstack Academy’s Remote Immersive Program.


Galvanize offers a large number of scholarships towards underrepresented populations. Check out their website for more information.


Grand Circus Academy offers a Diversity Scholarship of $1,500 ($1,000 for the part-time bootcamp) towards underrepresented groups in tech.


Hack Reactor offers many scholarships – one of which is committed to their diversity and inclusion efforts. 50% of all scholarships will be given to underrepresented groups in software engineering.


Launch Academy offers rolling $500 scholarships in their Boston program for women and underrepresented minorities in tech.

Women are eligible to receive a $3,000 scholarship toward the Metis Data Science Bootcamp tuition.

Rithm School is currently offering one full scholarship to their 13-week web development program – applications are due on June 15th 2017.

As part of their Inclusion Scholarships, applied and accepted students are eligible to receive up to $3,000 towards the cost of The Startup Institute's full- and part-time programs.

Tech Academy is currently offering a $1,000 scholarship to students who commit to studying 40 hours per week.


All self-identifying women are eligible for an automatic $100 off tuition per month for Thinkful's Flexible Web Development Bootcamp & Flexible Data Science Bootcamp. They’re also eligible for $240 per month off the Full Time Web Development Bootcamp.


Turing offers two $4,000 diversity scholarships in each cohort.


Turn to Tech offers scholarships for women up to $1,000.

We Can Code It.png

An automatic $1,000-$2,000 grant is applied towards your We Can Code It tuition if you are an underrepresented group in tech, including women.


The Future Leaders of Tech Scholarship covers 100% of tuition towards Wyncode's Web Development bootcamp, and also receive a 3-month paid internship to a partnering company.
